The Miami Makos beat the Detroit Vipers by a score of 8-2. Miami center fielder Jose Puente deserved the lion's share of the credit. Puente was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Makos. Miami starter Malachi Brock was credited with the win after throwing 107 pitches over 7.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-2. The second-place Makos have won 4 consecutive games.

Miami used a clutch at-bat from Dane Burdier to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Makos ahead, 6-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Burdier told the Miami Times.
