| Mammoths Lose at Home, 5-4 | The Montreal Mammoths got a sterling performance from right fielder Jesus Vargas, but the Orlando Orange still prevailed, 5-4. Vargas was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. With the win, Orlando has a record of 20-28. Montreal falls to 18-30.
It could have been a different outcome for Orlando, had it not been for Jose Cortez, the 33-year old second baseman . Cortez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Orlando up, 5-2.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Montreal manager David Fields. "But we decided not to take it."
