| Empire Top Kings in Extras, 5-2 | The New York Empire racked up a win at Condors Park, bumping off the Boston Kings, 5-2, in 10 innings. Sandy Elias, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. Manny Grijalva closed it out for his 17th save. The win elevated the Empire to 31-19.
New York used the timely hitting of Rich Myles to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Empire on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Elias. | | | | |
