Buchanan Slugs Empire to 12-3 Win
Empire first baseman Brandon Buchanan left his mark on his team's 12-3 win over the Boston Kings. Buchanan, who is tied for 3rd in the IL in hits with 62, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for New York in the contest. Josue Ortiz picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-2 on the season. He struck out 5 and walked 2 in 8 innings, while yielding 3 runs. The Independent Central-leading Empire have a record of 32-19.

New York used the bat of Aaron Carmichael to get the win. The center fielder spanked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Empire ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it altered the outcome.

"I like our moxie," said Empire manager David Fields.
