| Makos Rally Late to Clip Philadelphia | The Miami Makos had to overcome a fine effort from Philadelphia pitcher Kevin Hunt to win, 3-2, at Honolulu Stadium. Hunt went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Miami reliever Carlos Sanchez was the winner. His record is now 1-1. John Little took the loss. The win lifted the Miami record to 26-23.
The decisive blow was delivered by Ben Shuman in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old left-handed pitcher John Little to win the game for Miami. The home crowd went nuts.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Miami manager David Fields. "It's usually not just one thing."
