| Big Game from Ortiz Not Enough, Makos Lose | The inspired effort of Miami second baseman Rodrigo Ortiz was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Jacksonville Jackals. Ortiz was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Scott Lohmann picked up the save for Jacksonville, his 16th of the year. With the win, the Jackals sit at 38-14.
Had Jose Gallegos not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Gallegos hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Jackals.
"We found a way to get it done," Gallegos said.
