| New York Loses, 6-4, in 10 | The Toronto Robbers and New York Empire duked it out at Empire Ballpark.
Toronto first baseman Dave Taggart was instrumental in helping the Robbers triumph, 6-4, over the New York Empire. Taggart went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Mike Lee snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 3-0 on the season. Getting the save was Pat Greer, his 17th.
Todd Smith came through with a big-time hit for Toronto. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Taggart said (again).
With the win, Toronto upped its record to 35-20.
