| Vipers Score Late to Nip Mammoths, 3-2 | The Detroit Vipers, despite a fine performance by Montreal pitcher Jonathan Crutcher, grabbed a 3-2 win at Mammoths Field. Crutcher allowed no runs over 6 innings. Art Davis, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save. The Vipers win now puts them at 25-31.
Detroit won the game in part because of Adam Lappin. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Vipers ahead, 3-1. For the game, Lappin had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager David Fields.
