| Sunrays Fall Short, 3-2, at Miami | Honolulu Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Miami Makos and Tampa Bay Sunrays.
Though he had a terrific game, Antonio Cedeno could not prevent his team, the Tampa Bay Sunrays, from absorbing a loss. Miami won the game, 3-2. Cedeno went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. J.P. Lutz earned the win for Miami. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. Kenny Blankenship notched his 1st save of the season.
The Makos got a big boost from right fielder Willie de la Rosa who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Sunrays hurler Benjamin Lecomte. It was his 4th RBI of the season and put Miami on top, 1-0.
Miami manager David Fields commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
Miami now has a record of 2-4. | | | | |
