Kings third baseman Nick Avila left his imprint on his team's 8-3 win over the New York Empire. Avila went 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for Boston in the contest. Boston reliever Joe Richardson snagged the win, upping his record to 2-0. Dave Alatorre shouldered the loss. At 27-28, the Kings claim second place in the Independent Central.

Boston used a clutch at-bat from Casey Warren to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Kings ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Avila.
