The New York Empire got a sterling performance from pitcher Mike Clark, but the Boston Kings still prevailed, 2-1. Clark threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Reliever Joe Penrod picked up the win. His record improves to 4-4. John Pilkington, who finished 2nd in the IL in saves with 30 in 2029, took the loss. Ricardo Hernandez collected save number 6.

Casey Warren helped out the Boston cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the catcher went 1 for 3 with a walk.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Boston manager David Fields said.

Boston now has a record of 28-28 with the win.
