The Boston Kings picked up a win at Empire Ballpark, knocking off the New York Empire, 4-3. Starting pitcher Miguel Salguero was a big reason why. Joe Penrod picked up the win in relief for Boston, while Danny Gephart took the loss. New York, at 20-37, has lost 4 straight.

Mike Cardenas came through with a big-time hit for Boston. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We have a lot of confidence in Miguel," said Boston manager David Fields.
