The Tampa Bay Sunrays racked up a win at Sunrays Field, bumping off the Detroit Vipers, 5-4. Matt Jennings, who started for Tampa Bay, pitched effectively for his team. The winner was Jerry Gripper in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Justin Young took the loss. Earning his 13th save for Tampa Bay was John Winsor.

Tampa Bay went up, 5-4, on Gavin Subler's 14th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Subler hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Detroit pitcher Matt Kelley muttering to himself.

"We did enough to win," said Jennings.

The loss makes Detroit 31-30.
