| Extra-Inning Win by Vipers Over Kings | The Detroit Vipers had to overcome a fine effort from Boston pitcher Nate Smith to win, 5-3, at Condors Park. Smith went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Dan Throop picked up his 1st save of the season. The win gives Detroit a season record of 33-33.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Jaden Harris came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Boston pitcher Felipe Almonte, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Detroit on top, 4-3.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Detroit manager David Fields. "It's usually not just one thing." | | | | |
