| Fury Win, 5-3, at Tampa Bay | Joe Jones, who is tied for 3rd in the IL with a 11.5 K/9 rate, had a strong outing for the Philadelphia Fury against the Tampa Bay Sunrays at Sunrays Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Jones picked up the win for Philadelphia, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-7. John Little closed out the game, earning his 15th save.
Willis Mendez had a big 2-run home run for the Fury in the top of the first inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a sinker from Matt Jennings, who finished 5th in the IL in wins with 12 in 2043, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Fury on top, 3-0.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Mendez.
The Fury raised their record to 29-36.
