The Philadelphia Fury topped the Detroit Vipers, 3-1, in Independent action at Vipers Park. The standout performance belonged to Philadelphia pitcher and Newton, Massachusetts, native Kevin Hunt. Getting the save was James Gambon, his 2nd. With the win, Philadelphia boosts its record to 4-3.

Willie Garcia came through with a big-time hit for Philadelphia. The catcher smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

After the game, Hunt refused to speak to a reporter for the Philadelphia News. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
