| Makos Edge Orange, 5-4 | Vic Marinez, who is tied for 2nd in the IL in complete games with 2, was locked in. The right-hander led the Miami Makos to a 5-4 win against the Orlando Orange at Honolulu Stadium. Marinez got the win, improving to 7-6. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 7 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Miami is now 38-33. Orlando is 44-27.
An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the seventh. That's when Makos second baseman Dave Castillo hit a fastball from Bob Figueroa for a 2-run single. Just like that, Miami was up, 4-3.
"Nice win for us," said Castillo. "Now we'll go after the next one."
