| New York Gets 8-1 Win | The New York Empire picked up a win at Sunrays Field, topping the Tampa Bay Sunrays, 8-1. On the mound for New York was left-hander Manny Lopez. He played a principal role in the triumph. The victory gives the Empire a record of 51-28.
In the top of the sixth, New York third baseman Julio Apodaca had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Apodaca stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, New York. For the game, he was 3-5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
