| Makos Slap 5-2 Loss on Mammoths | Miami Makos starter Brandon Diggs was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Montreal Mammoths, 5-2. The winning pitcher was Diggs, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Carlos Sanchez earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.
Miami used a well-timed hit by Ben Shuman to capture the win. The shortstop socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Makos ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Said losing manager David Fields: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
Montreal is now 6-3.
