| Robbers Slip Past Kings, 3-0 | In a low-scoring game between the Toronto Robbers and the Boston Kings, pitcher Dominique Bruno was masterful on the mound. The Toronto right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-0 win. Toronto reliever Rogelio Vargas was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Joe Penrod. The first-place Robbers have a record of 52-35.
Toronto used a clutch hit from Guadalupe Mejia to snatch the win. The right fielder belted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Robbers ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Mejia. | | | | |
