The Chicago Hawks got a superb performance from right fielder Chris Chance, but the Philadelphia Fury still won the game, 8-5. Chance was 2-4 with 2 home runs. The winning pitcher was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Rodriguez. He tossed 91 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. John Little earned the save for Philadelphia, his 19th of the year.

Daniel Contreras had a big 2-run home run for the Fury in the bottom of the third inning. With Philadelphia leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Mike Spaw, who finished 4th in the IL in saves with 26 in 2042, and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Fury on top, 4-1.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Contreras.

The loss makes Chicago 33-60.
