| Makos Squeeze By Boston, 2-1 | The Miami Makos picked up a win at Honolulu Stadium, knocking off the Boston Kings, 2-1. On the mound for Miami was right-hander Juan Magana. He played a key role in the triumph. Miami pitcher Ron Mello got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Tony Martinez got the loss. Jesus Barajas wrapped it up, recording his 14th save.
Dave Castillo chipped in for Miami, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth inning. For the game, the second baseman was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Miami manager David Fields said.
