Montreal and New York got after it at Mammoths Field.

The Montreal Mammoths licked the New York Empire, 9-3. Jay Butler deserved a big chunk of the credit. The center fielder was 4-5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Mammoths. Ryan Wentworth was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Sandy Elias. Rudy Neaves picked up the save for Montreal, his 3rd of the year.

Butler had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a triple. The Mammoths went on to win.

"It feels good to get this one," Butler told the Montreal News.

Montreal occupies second place in the Independent North Division at 51-45.
