| Kings Come Up Short at Detroit, 3-2 | The Detroit Vipers had to overcome a fine effort from Boston pitcher Evan Morrison to win, 3-2, at Vipers Park. Morrison went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Gabe Stanger got credit for the save for Detroit. It was his 26th of the year. Detroit is third in the Independent North Division with a record of 51-47.
Detroit went up, 3-2, on Omar Alonso's 13th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Alonso hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Boston pitcher Evan Morrison muttering to himself.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Boston manager David Fields. "We just didn't cash in."
