| Queens Stumble, Lose to Rangers | The Houston Rangers satisfied the home crowd at Globe Life Field, treating them to a season-opening win, 8-2, over the Denver Queens. Starting Pitcher Sean Mikkelsen was the standout performer for Houston. Mikkelsen picked up the win for Houston, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0.
Alfredo Quintero had a big 3-run home run for the Rangers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Houston leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Victor Solis and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 6-1.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Houston manager David Fields. | | | | |
