| Boston Defeated By Sunrays, 4-1 | The Tampa Bay Sunrays downed the Boston Kings, 4-1, at Condors Park. Stellar pitching by Giomar Jamaica had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Jamaica, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. John Winsor closed out the game, earning his 5th save.
Tampa Bay used a clutch at-bat from Carlos Gonzales to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sunrays ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Jamaica said.
The win gives Tampa Bay a record of 5-5. | | | | |
