| Firebirds Fall, 9-0, to Skolnick, Rangers | The 4-hit performance of Bob Skolnick, who finished 5th in the UL in triples with 4 in 2040, helped the Houston Rangers beat the Phoenix Firebirds, 9-0. Sean Mikkelsen, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 1 hits and no runs, while striking out 9 and walking 3. Tom Klug earned the save for Houston.
In the top of the first, with the game still scoreless, Skolnick hit a run-scoring single to put his team in the lead.
"Winning never gets dull," said Skolnick.
The loss drops Phoenix to 1-5.
