| Seattle Bats Go Silent in 4-0 Loss | Gary Gunnoe, who finished 4th in the UL in saves with 28 in 2038, never let the Pilots get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Pioneers to a win, 4-0. The winner was Gunnoe. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jon Prado. The Pioneers raised their record to 2-3.
The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the fifth inning, but Gunnoe was able to pitch out of a jam. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Seattle trailing 2-0, Gunnoe retired Francisco Macias, who grounded out.
