| Firebirds Top Atlanta, 3-2 | In a low-scoring affair between the Phoenix Firebirds and the Atlanta Peaches, pitcher Diego Fierro was the difference between victory and defeat. The Phoenix left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Firebirds win. Kevin Williamson, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 1 innings. The win has Phoenix at 6-5.
Rich Unruh was the walk-off hero for Phoenix. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Firebirds second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
