| Harper Stars in 9-3 Hitters Win | Due in large part to left fielder Chris Harper, the Hollywood Hitters sunk the Houston Rangers, 9-3. Harper went 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. David Fernandez, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. Early on, the Hitters, at 11-2, have played an impressive brand of baseball.
One of the clutch hits for Hollywood came from one of their biggest talents. In the bottom of the seventh with one out, Daniel Hernandez, who finished 5th in the UL in stolen bases with 26 last year, hit a 2-run single to put the Hitters up, 5-3. For the game, the first baseman was 3-5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.
"Pedal to the metal" is how Hollywood manager David Fields described his team's approach. | | | | |
