Pioneers Earn Win with Late Rally
San Francisco starter Danny Gephart pitched well against the Phoenix Firebirds at Pioneers Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 1-0, in 11 innings. John Pilkington earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. The Pioneers, with just their 4th win in 15 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.

The Pioneers got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Carlos Rivera. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Pioneers.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Gephart. "I like it."
