Pioneers Deal Queens Painful Loss
Pioneers Park played host to some dramatic action.

The San Francisco Pioneers turned back the Denver Queens, 7-6, at Pioneers Park. Edgardo Valverde, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. San Francisco is flying high at 11-5.

The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With San Francisco trailing 6-5, Valverde jumped on a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Finlay Churchill and hit a 2-run home run to left. With one swing, the Pioneers had a walk-off win.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Valverde told the San Francisco Chronicle.
