| Queens Score 9-2 Win Over Pioneers | The Denver Queens picked up a win at Pioneers Park, knocking off the San Francisco Pioneers, 9-2. Starting pitcher Carlos Juarez played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Juarez. He threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Ruben Sanchez. The Queens, with just their 6th win so far in 2042, have yet to catch fire.
Mike Kelley had a big 2-run double for the Queens in the top of the first inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Ruben Sanchez and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Queens ahead, 3-0.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Kelley. "Obviously." | | | | |
