| Rangers Slip Past Firebirds, 4-2 | Phoenix got a decent performance from pitcher Jim Burrows, but it wasn't enough to beat the Houston Rangers. Houston won the Firebirds Ballpark contest, 4-2. Burrows threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Jake Reed in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jim Burrows took the loss. The Rangers with just their 5th win in 17 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Noboru Endo came through with a big-time hit for Houston. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Houston manager David Fields called it "a pretty good win."
