| Luchadors Best Queens in Pitching Duel | Denver wasted a solid 6.1-inning effort from starting pitcher Matt Philips, losing to San Diego, 2-0, at Luchadors Field. The win was credited to Chris Serrette in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Matt Philips took the loss. Bobby Samu locked down his 9th save.
Victor Fuentes had a big solo home run for the Luchadors in the bottom of the third inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a cutter from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Philips and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Luchadors on top, 2-0.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Fuentes told the San Diego Daily.
The Luchadors, now 15-4, have been on fire in the early going.
