Win Goes to Vipers in Tight Contest
Gene Reedy had a hand in Detroit defeating Miami by the score of 8-4. Reedy went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring 1 times and driving in 3 runs. Detroit reliever Dan Throop picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Ron Mello absorbed the loss. Miami falls to 7-7.

Detroit shortstop Esteban Carmona produced at a critical juncture. It happened in the top of the eighth with Carlos Sanchez on the mound and Detroit leading 5-4. Carmona drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Detroit skipper David Fields.
