| Empire Win at Tampa Bay, 7-1 | The New York Empire topped the Tampa Bay Sunrays, 7-1, at Sunrays Field. New York first baseman Brandon Buchanan was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Getting the save was Ricky Rael, his 3rd. New York goes to 9-4 with the win.
With New York leading 4-1 in the top of the ninth, Buchanan hit a cutter from Jerry Gripper for a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Empire ahead, 7-1.
"It feels good, just a great win all around," Buchanan said after the game.
