The Seattle Pilots earned a win at Pilots Park, knocking off the Denver Queens, 5-3. On the bump for Seattle was left-hander Pat Rudd. He had a starring role in the triumph. In 8.1 innings, Rudd surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs.
In the bottom of the sixth, Carlos Guzman delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, the Seattle right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Pilots in front, 5-3.
"I'm never the type of guy that will go in there and flip the table," Denver manager David Fields said. "At this point, it's up to the players to say 'This is not good enough.'"
The slumping Queens have dropped 9 in a row.
