Phoenix took on Denver in front of a lively crowd.

Phoenix pitcher Gilbert Babin did his part in helping his team defeat the Denver Queens, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Babin got the win, improving to 4-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Kevin Williamson earned save number 7 this season.

Carlos Sanchez dealt the Queens a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Phoenix leading 2-1, Sanchez, the 9th overall pick in the 2038 draft, hit a 3-1 sinker for a 2-run single.

"Gilbert did a nice job," said Firebirds manager David Fields.

The Firebirds move to 12-15 with the win, while the Queens drop to 14-13.
