| Pilots Lose to Firebirds, 7-1 | Phoenix pitcher Gus Marquez did his part in helping his team defeat the Seattle Pilots, 7-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Marquez yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-3. Phoenix bumps their record to 13-16 with the win.
Victor Chavez, who is tied for 10th in the UL in RBI with 18, helped out the Phoenix cause in the top of the third inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Phoenix manager David Fields.
