| Pilots Edge Pioneers, 4-3 | Seattle pitcher Juan Ochoa had a large part in his team beating the San Francisco Pioneers, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. At 16-22, the Pilots claim third place in the United West.
In the bottom of the second, Francisco Macias delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Seattle third baseman hit a 2-run single, putting the Pilots in front, 4-3.
"Bottom line," said San Francisco skipper David Fields, "we didn't play well enough to win."
