| Rangers Popped by Firebirds, 6-4 | Phoenix Firebirds starter Lee O'Meara pitched effectively against the Houston Rangers at Globe Life Field. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 6-4 win. O'Meara, now 2-3, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Jose Hernandez notched his 7th save of the season.
It could have been a different outcome for Phoenix, had it not been for Rich Unruh, the former first round draft pick . Unruh contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Phoenix up, 1-0.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Unruh told the Phoenix Herald.
The Firebirds go to 15-22 with the win. | | | | |
