The Houston Rangers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Josh Cummiskey, who kept Phoenix hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Rangers win at Globe Life Field. In 7 innings, Cummiskey surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Al Reyes notched his 13th save of the season.

Houston took a 2-0 lead on Ricky Vargas's 7th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Vargas hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Phoenix pitcher Bert Cole visibly frustrated.

"Josh did a good job of shutting their lineup down," said Houston manager David Fields.

With the win, Houston upped its record to 22-17.
