| Great Effort by Toltecs C Joyce Not Enough in 9-3 Loss | Leon catcher Chris Joyce had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Joyce was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Phoenix beat the Toltecs, 9-3. The Firebirds go to 23-25, putting them third in the United South.
Dwayne Bland, who is tied for 2nd in the UL in doubles with 14, took Leon hurler Kareem Brobbey deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Firebirds on top, 4-2. In all, Bland had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"What's not to like about a win?" said Bland.
