The game was at a stalemate until catcher Ryan Hoyt came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Mexico City pitcher Jorge Zuniga, he hit a first pitch sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Dallas on top, 5-4.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Hoyt told the Dallas Chronicle. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
