Chicago center fielder Ryan Long pounded Miami Makos pitchers at Hawks Park, but it was not enough to keep the Hawks from falling, 6-2, in Game 2 of the Wildcard. Long went 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs, though he couldn't prevent the Hawks from slipping into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 series.

Miami used a well-timed hit by Joe Gibbs to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Makos ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"We did a lot of things right," said Gibbs.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Honolulu Stadium in Miami.
