| Divisional Game 1 Victory for Clark and New York | Leave it to the veteran.
The New York Empire got a great start from 34-year-old right-hander Mike Clark, as New York won the contest, 3-1, at Empire Ballpark. Clark threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball in the win, which allowed the New York to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
Clark was in the zone all game. He frustrated Miami hitters while giving the Empire 8 innings of quality work. Clark threw 96 pitches, allowing 7 hits and getting 9 punchouts.
"Mike had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said New York manager David Fields.
