| New York Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair | The New York Empire moved to within one game of the Conference Championship, downing the visiting Miami Makos at Empire Ballpark by a score of 3-2. Empire right-hander Travis Segura had a strong outing in which he threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Empire a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Divisional.
Segura threw well for New York, thwarting the Miami offense. The right-hander tossed 121 pitches over 8 innings. He allowed just 2 runs on 5 hits.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Segura.
The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, August 10th , 2039 at Honolulu Stadium in Miami.
