| Tampa Bay Tops New York Again, 6-4 | Riding the 2-hit performance of first baseman Carlos Cruz, the Tampa Bay Sunrays got a road win against the New York Empire, 6-4, in Game 2 of the Conference Championship. Cruz was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Sunrays, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
A key moment came with two out in the top of the second. That's when Cruz hit a fastball from Greg Olsen for a 2-run single, putting Tampa Bay up, 3-0.
"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Cruz said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Sunrays Field.
