Starting pitcher Bert Cole played a key role in the triumph. Josh Smith earned his 1st save, after closing out the game. With this game in the books, Phoenix is 21-33, San Francisco 26-28.
The result might have been different, had it not been for former first round draft pick Edgar Delgado. Delgado had a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Firebirds ahead, 6-4. For the game, Delgado had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Bert made some big pitches when he needed to," said Firebirds manager David Fields.
